The best SUVs for under £200 per month in 2024
The crossover and compact SUV segment of the market is packed, but if you’ve got up to £200 per month to spend, you are somewhat limited. As we’ve said before, however, leasing is often the most cost-effective way to get behind the wheel of one.
While sub-£200 SUVs are rather few and far between, we’ve managed to find a handful that are available now for this price – or less. Naturally these prices can change if you want to modify your lease agreement profile and adjust mileage allowances and initial rentals.

- Volkswagen T-Cross
Nissan Juke
The Nissan Juke’s styling won’t appeal to everyone, but it’s been a consistent hit with lease customers since it was launched more than 10 years ago. The latest version offers tonnes of standard tech including a digital driver display, reverse camera, a 12in infotainment system that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with safety features like automatic emergency braking.
It isn’t the most spacious of crossovers, but providing you don’t carry adults in the back seats on a regular basis, it’s perfect for children and a fine candidate as a family run-around. For under £200 per month, you’ll get a version that features a punchy 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox. Self-charging hybrid variants, along with a CVT automatic gearboxes are also available.
Peugeot 2008
Currently the smallest crossover in the Peugeot range, the 2008 has won praise from the motoring press for its stand-out styling (borrowed from the larger 3008 and 5008) along with a fantastic cabin that offers both space and impressive standard tech. The centre-piece of the cabin is Peugeot’s i-Cockpit infotainment and driver displays. Rather than look through the steering wheel, your display is above it.
It’s an interesting concept that, combined with a fabulous range of engines and drivetrains (including an all-electric variant) makes the 2008 a fantastic choice. Versions under £200 per month will come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that offers adequate power both around town and on the open road. It’s also really cheap to run, too.
Vauxhall Grandland
If you thought you were limited to smaller crossovers in this price bracket, think again: leasing is all about timing. Recently cars like the Peugeot 408 and Nissan Qashqai have slipped under the £200 barrier. Now it’s the turn of Vauxhall’s Grandland. With 514 litres of boot space and plenty of rear legroom, this is a really practical choice.
You can choose between a range of 1.2-litre petrol engines, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel. Standard kit impresses too, with Vauxhall’s latest dashboard design offering something a little different from its competitors. Naturally, its infotainment system supports smartphone mirroring, although a number of physical buttons have been retained, ensuring the system is as intuitive to use as possible.

Suzuki Vitara
The Suzuki Vitara might seem a more mundane choice compared to a few other cars on this list. However, that’s far from the case. It’s actually quite a fun SUV to drive, and offers more space than rivals and a comfortable ride too. The infotainment system is a 7in unit that lags behind some other rivals, but it’s simple to use and you can connect your phone.
You can choose between a 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre hybrid. True to its roots, you can specify the Vitara with a four-wheel drive system. However, for less than £200 per month you’d be looking at a manual 1.4-litre two-wheel drive variant. Economy is impressive, with the smaller engine offering north of 50mpg.
Volkswagen T-Cross
The T-Cross is Volkswagen’s smallest SUV, and as such is based on the Polo. But that’s certainly no bad thing; the latest Polo’s platform is one of the best on the market, and certainly aids in giving both it and the T-Cross a grown-up feel behind the wheel.
It’s a really well packaged car, and offers Volkswagen’s hallmark quality when it comes to the interior trim too. Motoring critics have praised the car’s drive and pointed out how easy it is to drive. If you’re after a smart compact SUV with a premium badge, few can beat the T-Cross – particularly for less than £200 per month.
