Volkswagen T-Roc trim levels 2023: Models and specs compared
Back to 'Expert guides'The Volkswagen T-Roc is a seriously popular lease car at the moment. It offers the same quality and practicality of the Golf but wraps it all up in a more practical crossover-like package. So it shouldn’t really be a surprise.
The latest model also features a revised infotainment system along with an excellent range of petrol and diesel drivetrains. But along with choosing your engine and colour, it’s important to consider trim levels too.
In 2023, the T-Roc is available in a total of five trims. The one that suits you will of course depend on your own requirements and of course how much you want to spend. So which is which? We late a look.

Volkswagen T-Roc trim levels 2023
The “best” trim level will depend on your own preferences, but here’s the T-Roc options for 2023/24:
- T-Roc Life
- T-Roc Style
- T-Roc R Line
- T-Roc R
Volkswagen T-Roc Life
The Life is the entry-level option, as it is on several Volkswagens. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be short of equipment. In T-Roc guise, Life trim offers a plethora of tech and engine options.
First off, you can choose either the 1.0-litre or 1.5-litre petrol with the latter available with an optional seven-speed automatic. There’s also the 2.0-litre turbo diesel option available, too. Spec-wise, things are impressive too.
16in alloy wheels are standard, as is a digital cockpit featuring an 8in screen. It’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone air conditioning, lane keep assist and LED headlights are all on the standard kit list, too.
Volkswagen T-Roc Style
Style does exactly what it says on the tin – it adds a bit of pizazz to the already excellent Life model. On the outside, you get larger 17in alloy wheels, silver roof rails and the option of choosing a contrasting colour for the roof.
The LED headlights now feature separate daytime running lights too, while on the inside you get the upgraded Digital Cockpit Pro driver display. That means you get a 10.25in screen with customisable menus and information.
There’s also an additional drivetrain option at this level – a 2.0-litre petrol is available with Volkswagen’s excellent 4Motion four-wheel drive system. The diesel is also available with all-wheel drive should you wish, too.

Volkswagen T-Roc R Line
The R-Line starts to add a more distinctive flair to the T-Roc. You’ll get some fresh 17in alloys that are finished in Galvano Grey, while the R-Line pack adds body-coloured bumper accents.
Other changes above and over Style include a satnav package included as standard, the addition of drive profile selections and heated front seats. It really does give the T-Roc a boost and helps it feel like a really premium vehicle.
Only the more powerful 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines are available on the R-Line, including the optional all-wheel drive options.
Volkswagen T-Roc R
You can consider the R the ultimate variant of the T-Roc and adds a true performance drivetrain to this impressive crossover. As you might have guessed, it’s been inspired by the Golf R and as such gets a host of specific styling features.
18in alloy wheels feature as standard, while there’s a unique set of bumpers and side skirts. Around the rear, you’ll find twin chrome exhaust tips on both sides of the bumper.
The R treatment continues on the inside, with the front and rear seats boasting a “Karoso” fabric. There are also a number of fresh colour options, including the vivid Lapiz Blue you see above (although this remains an optional extra).
As standard, all T-Roc Rs exclusively feature the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor that pumps out 300hp. Power is sent to the road via a seven-speed automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive system. This is a true performance vehicle.
