Vauxhall Astra: Trim levels 2024 | What’s the difference?
Back to 'Expert guides'As automotive glow-ups go, the Vauxhall Astra has to be one of the best recent examples. The latest version features sharp lines, lots of tech and a plethora of powertrain options.
It all makes it an enticing option for those that might have been swayed by the Volkswagen Golf – particularly because it’s available as a petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric. There really is something for everyone in the Astra range.
But what trim levels can you choose from? All Astra models feature a three core options. But what comes with each trim? We take a deep dive to help you decide which one would suit you best in 2024.
Vauxhall Astra trim levels 2024
The Astra line-up features three trim levels in 2024:
- Design
- GS
- Ultimate
Vauxhall Astra Design
Standard spec includes:
- Front and rear parking sensors
- 16in alloy wheels
- Adaptive cruise control
- Climate control
- Body-coloured roof
The Design is at the bottom of the Astra hierarchy, but don’t be thinking this is a particularly entry-level option. It’s still packed with features that you’d have to pay extra for on some rivals.
For example, it gets keyless start and entry, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic headlights and electronic climate control.
The biggest thing that marks it out is the exterior; it features smaller 16in alloys than the rest of the range, while dual-tone paint options aren’t available on the Design either. That said, there’s still a host of solid colour options, including vibrant reds and blues.
Engine-wise, the 1.2-litre petrol engine is available with either 110hp or 130hp. The latter can also be specified with an automatic gearbox. The 136hp Hybrid version and 156hp all-electric version are, of course, also automatic.
Vauxhall Astra GS
Standard spec includes:
- 17in alloy wheels
- Contrasting black roof and alloys
- Heated steering wheel
- 360-degree parking camera
- Integrated satnav
Moving up the range, you find the GS. This model is immediately marked out courtesy of its contrasting black roof and larger alloy wheels.
Inside, there’s some nice extras over the Design too. You get Vauxhall’s clever Intelli-Vision 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, along with Vauxhall’s Pure Panel Pro infotainment system with integrated navigation.
The GS is also available in petrol, hybrid and electric guise, although the least potent 110hp option cannot be specified with this model.
Vauxhall Astra Ultimate
Standard spec includes:
- Diamond-cut 18in alloy wheels
- Power-folding door mirrors
- LED headlights and fog lights
- Alcantara & Nappa Leather upholstery options
- Panoramic sunroof
The name says it all really. The Ultimate is the range-topping Astra. Externally, you’ll notice a set of diamond-cut 18in alloy wheels and a set of roof rails, while the door mirrors are also power folding units on this model.
The headlights and fog lights are now LED, while it gets the same contrasting roof as the GS. Inside is where the biggest differences are though.
You have the option of Alcantara and Nappa leather upholsteries, while a panoramic sunroof is a feature on all Ultimate models. A sports leather-bound steering wheel is also on the standard equipment list.
