Ford Mustang Mach E | Trim levels and options explained | 2024

Back to 'Expert guides'

The Ford Mustang Mach E was the brand’s first electric vehicle to hit UK shores. Ford has since announced big plans for its electrification process, with the Explorer now available to order too.

But the Mustang Mach E still sits at the top of the range. This is a car that rivals the likes of Tesla’s Model Y and the Kia EV6. Potent electric performance, some seriously advanced tech and of course that iconic nameplate continue to ensure it’s a popular choice.

But what are the options when it comes to trim levels and colours? What’s included? We’ve created a guide that runs through the key differences to help you pick the right one, and explain Ford’s BlueCruise driver assist system – a standard feature on all Mach Es.

Ford BlueCruise: What is it and how does it work?

All Mustang Mach Es now come with the ability to offer true, hands-free motorway driving. It’s all thanks to Ford’s BlueCruise system, which is one of the most advanced driver assistance technologies currently available. In fact, it’s the first of its kind in Europe.

It utilises clever mapping, with designated “Blue Zones” on most of the UK’s major motorways. It allows the car to follow the road and deal with situations that would normally require driver input via the steering wheel, accelerator or brakes.

It features automatic updates, and is available as an add-on for £17.99 per month once you’ve taken delivery of your Mustang Mach E. A 90-day free trail period is also included with every Mach E – certainly worth a thought if you do lots of motorway miles.

Ford Mustang Mach E trim levels

In 2024, the Mustang Mach E can be specified in three different trims:

  • Select
  • Premium
  • GT

Ford Mustang Mach E Select

Standard equipment:

  • LED headlights and tail lights
  • BlueCruise capabilities
  • 15.5in infotainment touchscreen
  • 360-camera
  • “Mustang” puddle lights
  • Wireless charging
  • 72kWh battery

The entry to the Mustang Mach E range comes in the form of the Select. But there’s nothing “entry-level” about it. A set of 19in alloy wheels help finish off the stunning looks the Mach E already exudes, which also features LED headlights and LED tail lights, the latter of which get the Mustang’s iconic lighting signature. You also benefit from “Mustang” puddle lights for those dark, damp evenings.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted with a spacious cabin featuring a central 15.5in infotainment touchscreen. Featuring Ford’s latest SYNC4 system, it gets Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, as well as Ford’s latest Connected Navigation. Other nice touches you might not expect to see include a 360-degree surround camera, as well as a rear-view camera. There’s also a wireless charging pad and four USB ports.

Official combined electric range is 292 miles courtesy of the 72kWh battery pack. With 269PS, it’s this rear-wheel drive platform is the least potent in the range, but it’ll still get you from 0-60mph in just 6.3 seconds – on par with many of its key rivals. All Mach Es also feature Ford’s unique e-latch door system. Rather than a traditional handle, a button will illuminate as you approach your vehicle. Simply push the button to activate and open the door.

Above Select grade:

  • Machined alloy wheels
  • B&O sound system (AWD models)
  • Adaptive headlights
  • Electric memory seats
  • Panoramic glass roof (AWD models)
  • 91kWh battery

As its name would suggest, plump for the Premium trim and you get some nice extras. On the outside, there’s a fresh set of 19in machined alloy wheels with contrasting red brake calipers. The LED headlights are now adaptive too, while on all-wheel drive models, you’ll get a full-length panoramic glass roof.

The interior also gets a more premium B&O sound system on the all-wheel drive model, while all models get electric memory seats with lumbar support. The fabric has also been dialled up, with the Sensico interior now getting red stitching.

The biggest upgrade is arguably in the battery department, with the 72kWh unit swapped out for a 91kWh “Extended Range” variation. This results in an impressive 372-mile combined electric range. The Premium can also be specified in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive form. Even if you stick with the rear-wheel drive version, the larger capacity battery results in a power bump – it produces 294PS.

Ford Mustang Mach E GT

Above Premium grade:

  • 20in GT alloy wheels
  • MagneRide Adaptive Suspension
  • Brembo brakes
  • Performance body kit
  • Embossed sports seats
  • 487PS & 860Nm of torque

At the top of the Mach E tree is the GT, which promises a blend of exhilarating acceleration and sophisticated refinement. Externally, the wheels take a step up to 20in and are of a stunning design that’s exclusive to GT models. You also get Brembo brakes with red calipers and a range of styling enhancements that give the whole body a beefier look. You can also specify black wheels at a small extra cost should you wish.

Step inside and it’s immediately marked out from the rest of the range with sports seats with GT embossing along with other GT-specific bits of trim.

The GT’s stand-out feature though, is its outright performance. Producing up to 860Nm of torque, this version gets from 0-60mph in just 3.8 seconds. It uses the same 91kWh battery as the premium, but the GT is only available in all-wheel drive guise to ensure you can get all the power down to the ground as easily as possible.

To keep all the power in check, it features MagneRide Adaptive Suspension as standard. This system magnetically controls shock absorbers, allowing for a very adaptive ride. Its 487PS does mean combined range takes a hit, but with up to 304 miles on offer, it’s still mightily impressive for a performance EV.
