So, if you like the sound of an Explorer, which one should you plump for? We’ve already taken a look at the Explorer’s powertrain options, but it’s another thing specifying it to your exacting tastes and requirements.
Below, we’ve taken a deep-dive into Explorer trim choices, colour options and any additional extras that are available.
Trim levels
This one’s nice and simple, mainly because there are just two trim levels to choose from: Select and Premium.
Select
Select models get 19in alloy wheels, a 14.6in infotainment system. This features Ford’s latest SYNC software and the whole screen also tilts to reveal a clever secure storage compartment behind the centre console.
Talking of which, between the driver and passenger you’ll find the “Megaconsole” – an area that offers enough room for large handbags, a laptop and multiple 1.5L water bottles. Stand-out features include:
- 14.6in SYNC sliding infotainment screen
- Megaconsole
- Wireless smartphone integration
- Powered and heated front seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Adaptive cruise control
- Heated steering wheel
Premium
Premium adds a raft of neat features including larger 10in alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting into the mix. Full spec includes:
- 20in alloy wheels
- Panoramic sunroof
- 10-speaker B&O sound system
- hands-free tailgate
- ambient lighting
- Matrix LED
Options and packs
Driver Assistance pack
The Driver Assistance pack adds a range of really useful safety kit and driver aids including lane change assistance, a 360-degree camera and a powered tailgate.
- Head-up display
- Lane change assist
- Park Assist
- 360-camera

Heat pump
Premium EVs are often available with a heat pump, and the Explorer is no exception. This optional extra reduces battery strain when you want to heat the cabin. This is a big bonus when driving in cold and wintery conditions.
21in alloy wheels (Premium models only)
Larger 21in wheels are available as an optional extra on Premium models.

A total of six colour options are available on the Explorer, with Frozen White being the no-cost option for both trim levels. Here’s the colour range in full:
Frozen White
Frozen White is the only no cost option for the Explorer, but it suits the car very well.
Agate Black
Agate Black is a deep, rich colour that immediately adds a sense of class to an already imposing vehicle.

Magnetic is a metallic grey that suits the Explorer perfectly. It’ll be great for hiding road grime too – always a consideration if you do lots of miles.
Arctic Blue
Arctic Blue is a stunningly vivid hue which, as its name suggests, has icy undertones to it.
Blue My Mind
Want something a little more… blue? Enter the very aptly named Blue My Mind.
