Why consider a hybrid?

  • They can save you a lot of money and reduce emissions. If you make frequent, short trips or drive in traffic a lot, then a hybrid car on personal contract hire may be the perfect choice for you as you will spend less money on fuel and emit less CO2.
  • They're the best of both worlds. A hybrid car is also ideal for drivers who want to reduce their CO2 footprint but do not feel they can make the switch over to 100% electric vehicles. Some motorists are concerned that the range on EVs won't allow them to make long trips to more remote locations. However, with a hybrid, you can.
  • They're packed full of technology. Hybrids contain a lot of the latest innovations as standard, which means leasing a hybrid can be a cost-effective way to drive a new car packed full of gadgets.

FAQs when leasing a hybrid car

Do hybrids have to be charged?

Not all hybrid cars need to be charged. Those that do have to be charged are called plug-in hybrids or PHEVs. As you drive a standard hybrid, excess energy from the engine is used to charge the battery. They also ensure kinetic energy caused by braking does not go to waste and put electricity back into the battery. This convenience is one of the reasons people may prefer to lease a hybrid car over a 100% electric vehicle.

How long do hybrid batteries last?

This is a question often asked, and it does depend entirely on the make and model. However, on average a hybrid battery can usually last a minimum of 10 years or 150,000 miles – whichever comes first. That's longer than any lease plan.

What is the range for most hybrid cars?

Hybrids can drive a few miles on electric power alone, but not long distances. You'll be able to travel a short distance at low speeds, using no fuel at all. They are more suitable for driving in built-up areas with a lot of start-stop traffic, which reduces running costs and air pollution.
