Volvo ES90 revealed: Everything you need to know.
Volvo has revealed its ES90 – a new flagship electric model that takes the form of a high-riding saloon.
With upwards of 400 miles of range, Volvo’s usual minimalist interior and a stunning design, here’s everything you need to know.
Volvo ES90 fast facts
- High-riding saloon with SUV flair
- Swoopy fastback styling
- Front end borrows looks from EX90
- Key alternative to BMW/s i5
- First deliveries in 2026
Volvo ES90 styling
The ES90 is a bit of a mashup of body styles. Technically, it’s a fastback-style saloon, but it rides quite high compared to some other rivals. It’s certainly a stunning design though, with a clamshell bonnet, sweeping rear end and an imposing front design.
The headlights are similar to those seen on the EX90 SUV, and the car goes without a grille – you get a solid looking front panel that integrates the Volvo insignia. To the side, it has a swooping profile, flattened wheel arches and an intricately designed set of alloys.
At the rear, you get Volvo’s usual tail light design, almost reminiscent of the old S90. However, look a little closer and you’ll find a set of additional light units integrated neatly into the sides of the rear glass.
Volvo ES90 interior and tech
The interior is well thought out and looks really premium. There’s a portrait infotainment screen measuring 14.5 inches, which controls the vast majority of the car’s functions; the only physical controls we can see are the stalks and steering wheel buttons.
The dashboard almost wraps around the driver and passenger, with a large centre console offering a variety of storage spaces. It looks like a really nice place to sit and, if it’s anything like other recent Volvos, will feature a raft of eco-friendly, well-made materials.
Volvo ES90 powertrain
Two batteries will be offered from launch a 92kWh model and a 106kWh model. The 92kWh model is rear-wheel drive, while the more powerful battery pack is offered in dual-motor guise. One of the dual-motor models will offer an impressive 435 miles of range – more than many similarly priced rivals.
Plump for the Twin Motor Performance model, and you’ll also get a seriously quick car too – 0-62mph takes around 4 seconds courtesy of the 680hp powertrain. The best bit? It’ll still offer up to 435 miles of range.
But even 92kWh models offer 404 miles of range, so whichever you go for you’ll be getting a seriously capable EV.
Volvo ES90 release date
Priced from around £70,000, the first ES90s are set to be delivered early next year. We’ll bring you full UK specs, and of course the best lease offers, as soon as they’re available.
