Subaru Outback gets tweaks for 2021
Say hello to the new and improved Subaru Outback. Featuring a raft of enhancements, it’s set to arrive in the UK later this month.
Here’s what you need to know about this rugged-looking off roader.
Subaru Outback exterior
On the outside, it’s not entirely clear that it’s a new car to the untrained eye. However, the wheel arches are larger, giving it a more rugged look than ever before.
Coupled to a set of new 18in alloy wheels and standard LED headlights, it certainly looks like a capable four-wheel drive vehicle that’s a bit different to your run-of-the-mill crossovers.

The new Outback is more spacious than before, thanks to the windscreen and windows that are further forward than before. This increase in size means there’s more leg room in the back and a larger 522-litre boot.
A new infotainment system features too, which is now operated via a large 12in portrait touchscreen. It’s a clever system, and even gets a facial recognition system that can identify the driver and change settings accordingly.
Subaru has also ensured the revised car gets a top safety score. There’s a host of standard safety tech including collision avoidance systems, emergency lane keep assist, speed sign recognition with limiter, and departure warning and pre-collision braking.

The Outback retains its 2.5-litre petrol turbo engine, although Subaru says around 90% of it has actually been redesigned. The result is a better power delivery, improved economy and less emissions.
It can live up to its looks too, thanks to a new all-terrain ‘X’ mode that includes hill descent. Being an all-terrain vehicle means you even get a little jet washer to clear your reversing camera too. Nice touch.
Subaru Outback pricing and release date
There’ll be three trims to choose from in the new Outback range; entry-level Limited models are priced from £33,995, mid-range Field costs from £37,995 while range-topping Touring models cost £39,495.
