Skoda Kodiaq styling
The Kodiaq doesn’t look a million miles from the outgoing model, although a closer look reveals a number of styling changes that bring the car in line with models like the Enyaq iV. Up front, the grille is chunkier and wider than before, while the headlights are longer than before too.
The trademark split headlight design remains though, while round the side the car’s silhouette is remarkably similar to its predecessor. At the rear, however, you’ll see significant changes. There are now wraparound tail lights, with a light bar running the width of the tailgate.
The Skoda emblem is emblazoned across the upper boot lid, while the bumper and lower parts of the trim are larger than before, giving the rear of the car a more upmarket appearance than previously.
Skoda Kodiaq interior and tech
Skoda has worked hard to completely refresh the Kodiaq’s interior, which features cutting-edge infotainment systems, boasting a 13-inch screen and an optional head-up display. Standard features include innovative Škoda Smart Dials with haptic controls and a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit.
Starting from mid-2024, the voice control system will undergo further enhancements with the integration of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. Škoda's spacious SUV also embraces a fresh interior concept centered around Design Selections..
The centre console is uncluttered, thanks to the engineers moving the gear selector to behind the steering wheel. This creates extra storage space and again, helps the Kodiaq achieve a more premium feel.
Unlike some rivals, however, physical dials and knobs remain for the climate control settings, while buttons also operate certain aspects of the infotainment system and other features. The steering wheel design has been updated too, while the trim and upholstery has a more upmarket feel to it.
Skoda Kodiaq drivetrains
The latest Kodiaq line-up offers a choice between two diesel and two petrol engines, with power outputs ranging from 150 PS (110 kW) to 204 PS (150 kW). A notable addition is the Kodiaq iV featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering a system power output of 204 PS (150 kW) and an all-electric range exceeding 62 miles (100 kilometres).
Additionally, the introduction of mild-hybrid technology is highlighted with the 1.5 TSI variant producing 150 PS (110 kW). The top-of-the-line 2.0 TSI with 204 PS (150 kW) and 2.0 TDI with 193 PS (142 kW) come equipped with all-wheel drive as standard. All powertrains in the new Kodiaq are paired with a DSG automatic transmission.
Utilising a 25kWh battery pack, it should allow you to travel around 60 miles on electric power alone, and will be compatible with rapid 50kW chargers too.
