Mercedes EQB exterior
On the outside, you might notice that the overall look of the EQB isn’t dissimilar to the GLB. And for good reason: it’s actually based loosely on that car.
There are some notable changes that mark it out as an all-electric model though; the huge grille space up front is actually blanked off, while the headlights and air intakes give its face a more imposing look.
At the rear, you’ll find a full-width rear lighting set-up that Mercedes is rolling out across much of its range. Alloy wheels of up to 20in are available too, making sure the EQB is a truly imposing vehicle.
Mercedes EQB interior and tech
Likewise, the interior of the EQB bares more than a little resemblance to the GLB. You’ll find the same cutting-edge one-piece style infotainment screen and driver display that moulds neatly into the dashboard.
Made up of a pair of 10in screens, the system makes use of Mercedes MBUX which operates in a similar way to Amazon’s Alexa – the voice command is great, while satnav is standard across the entire range too.
Beneath the big screen you’ll find the normal exquisitely crafted air vents along with controls for the climate control and heating.
Mercedes has also kitted the EQB out with an array of impressive driver assistance tech. Things such as automatic emergency braking and collision assist are standard across the range.
A clever cruise control system also allows for semi-autonomous driving under certain conditions. It means on the motorway the car can steer, accelerate and brake as required.
Mercedes EQB drivetrains
From launch, two models are offered – the 300 and 350. Both feature four-wheel drive and use a 66.5kWh lithium-ion battery. Exact specifications differ, but official range for the 300 stands at 311 miles.
Both models are capable of rapid charging too, and regain up to 80% of charge in just 30 minutes via a 100kW charger. A performance-orientated Mercedes-AMG model could be on the cards soon.
