Mercedes-Benz CLS gets design changes and new drivetrain for 2021
Say hello to the freshly tweaked Mercedes CLS four-door coupe. It’s been given a mid-life refresh, with the new model gaining styling changes, a mild-hybrid diesel option and a new limited edition trim.
Here’s what you need to know.

All models have benefited from a slight makeover, with the tweaked 2021 models gaining a redesigned front bumper and new contrasting trim pieces in chrome and black.
It’s a subtle makeover, but combined with new 19in and 20in alloy wheel designs that are available in contrasting colours, it’s enough of a change to be noticeable.
There’s also a new colour option too – Spectral Blue metallic – shown in these pictures. Opting for an AMG-Line car will also add a different set of air intakes, a spoiler on the bumper and further black trim highlights.
The fiery CLS 53 model has been updated too, with AMG-specific bumpers, grilles and new Night Package trim options that replace black trim with aluminium pieces.
Meanwhile, a Limited Edition is being made available, although just 300 models will be made. This model comes exclusively in either grey or white, and features sportier alloy wheels, gloss black trim pieces and Mercedes AMG’s Dynamic Plus package.

The CLS actually gained a tech update last year, which introduced a host of new infotainment and driver assistance features. This time Mercedes has focused on the look of the cabin.
There’s a range of new trim options on offer, while the steering wheel design has been changed. Wood finishes are available, while you can choose between more leather colours than before.

Under the bonnet, you can now specify a mild-hybrid diesel option for the first time. The new 300d features a 250hp diesel engine and a tiny 25hp start-generator motor. This bumps up economy to an average of 48.7mpg, while reducing emissions to 144g/km of CO2.

Now in its 17th consecutive year of production, the CLS remains a firm favourite for leasing customers. The revised version of this four-door coupe is likely to be available from July, with list prices starting from around £60,000.
