2023 Kia XCeed to get plug-in option
The anticipated Kia XCeed has now been fully revealed. Now with sharper styling, interior updates and - most significantly - a range of new hybrid-only drivetrain options. Here’s what we know so far.
The XCeed Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) delivers an electric range of 48km which can be considered to an extensive 60km of city driving. Other powertrains are turbocharged, giving you all the sportiness whilst also being fuel-efficient.
Further information about the powertrains include:
- Three turbocharged petrol injection engines (T-GDi).
- A three-cylinder 1.0-litre T-GDi engine delivering 120ps Nm of torque.
- A high-power 1.6-litre T-GDi engine taken from the ProCeed GT models with an acceleration of 0-60mph in 7.5 seconds and seven speed dual-clutch transmission.
- A MHEV 1.6-litre diesel paired with a six-speed manual transmission delivering 136ps and 280 Nm of torque, or 320 Nm if you opted for the seven-speed dual-clutch.
Though, no fully electric version has been announced, we would hope it be in the pipeline, adding to the XCeed’s already extensive list of powertrains.
As promised, the new XCeed has been given a comprehensive update of the interior, with new infotainment enhancements such as a 10.25in ‘floating’ touchscreen infotainment system and a range of touch-sensitive buttons, dials and switches. A 12.3in Supervision instrument cluster is an optional extra and will offer you various new graphical themes which change according to your selected driving mode, ‘Eco’, ‘Normal’ or ‘Sport’.
You could also benefit from optional extras such as a JBL audio system with Clari-Fi technology to improve your drive experience in the XCeed. Dual-zone air-conditioning and heated electric folding door mirrors as well as heated steering wheel and windscreen. You can also opt of heated and ventilated front seats to make the drive that much more comfortable.
You will be able to choose from a range of different fabrics from cloth to suede and synthetic leather or genuine leather for your upholstery. The GT-Line trim will get a sporty ‘D-cut’ steering wheel with a black headliner and perforated leather-wrapped gear knob. You will also get unique GT-line seats, tying in that immersive sporty feel.
