Aimed at combining the best aspects of Jeep’s 4X4 capability with the best electric platform, the 4xe is more powerful and efficient than before.

The revised drivetrain uses the same mix of 2.0-litre petrol engine and electric motors as before, but it can now operate off-road in an electric-only mode.

With a maximum output of 380hp and 637Nm of torque, it delivers what Jeep says is unprecedented off-road performance. It’s not bad on the road either; the tweaks mean acceleration has increased.

It’ll manage the 0-62mph run in just 6.4 seconds. Electric-only range is up too, with the car now capable of exceeding 30 miles in EV mode during an urban cycle.

Other tweaks include a new Uconnect nav system and a revised 8.4in touchscreen which is standard across the entire range.

The standard safety features on the Wrangler 4xe include full-LED head and tail lights, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear-view camera, electronic stability control (ESC) with Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) and Keyless Enter 'N Go™.

Standard on all trims are also front and rear park assist and rear-view camera with dynamic grid. Optional features comprise forward collision warning plus, adaptive cruise control with stop function and automatic high beam, for complete peace of mind even in the urban jungle.
