Jaguar embraces electrification with FIVE models set to be axed

Jaguar has confirmed it will stop producing most of its line-up from 2025. The British brand has said it will stop producing FIVE of its models next year, as it moves towards new electric platforms.

The five models being axed are the XE and XF saloon cars, the F-Type sports car, the compact E-Pace SUV and the electric I-Pace: they will all stop being producing in 2025.

That would leave Jaguar with just one model: the F-Pace SUV. But it has been confirmed the move will coincide with the launch of a trio of new models that are set to launch featuring all-electric platforms.

Utilising the new JEA (Jaguar Electrified Architecture) platform, these new cars will usher in a new era for Jaguar, with the brand focusing on expanding its global profitability.

JLR’s chief executive, Adrian Mardell, previously commented: “The company is accelerating our electrification path, making one of our UK plants and our next-generation medium-size luxury SUV architecture fully electric”.

It doesn’t really come as a surprise that the future is electric for Jaguar;, but as a company JLR has been seen as an outlier compared with other premium manufacturers – aside from the I-Pace, its all-electric offerings have been non-existent to date.
