Honda CR-V goes hybrid-only for 2021

The Honda CR-V has been given a mid-life refresh, with the updated car ditching all but hybrid powertrains for 2021.

The CR-V e:HEV will be available to order from December, with deliveries expected early next year. Here’s what you need to know.

Having been launched in 2019, the CR-V is still a relatively fresh design, so styling changes are minimal. A closer look reveals a number of revisions though.

There’s a set of new 18in alloy wheels, while those opting for SE models and above now benefit from privacy glass.

The overall interior design hasn’t been changed, although updates include a new finish on the centre console, doors and dashboard. EX models now benefit from wireless charging too.

The biggest difference inside is that the new hybrid drivetrain means you can no longer specify the CR-V as a seven seater.

Honda CR-V engines

The only engine option is now Honda’s i-MMD hybrid platform, which uses two electric motors to boost power and improve the efficiency of the petrol engine.

The CR-V is now capable of up to 42.2mpg (front-wheel drive) and 39.2mpg (all-wheel drive). Other enhancements include tweaks to the suspension which makes it easier and safer to drive at lower speeds.
