Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023: Which new cars will be there?

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is just round the corner. This year the frivolities kick off on Thursday 13th July. While the Festival of Speed is a celebration of past, present and future vehicles, manufacturers often use the stunning setting for UK debits.

So what will be there this year? Here’s a few of the most important cars you’ll be able to get up close and personal with over course of the weekend.

Alpine A110 E-ternite & A290_ß

French performance manufacturer Alpine will be present, with the brand building on its already impressive EV credentials. Goodwood has a section known as “Electric Avenue” where this year you’ll find the A110 E-ternite.

Based on the sports car’s successful A110, it gives a glimpse of what we can expect to see from the manufacturer in the future.

Taking on the hill climb this year will be the A290_ß – a seriously hot hatchback based on the upcoming Renault 5.

Again, this will offer an insight into another future car for the brand. It’ll be piloted by Alpine’s own development driver, David Praschl, and is set to be one of the stars of the show.

BMW 5 Series

It was only a few weeks ago that BMW unveiled its all-new 5 Series and i5 range, and it has now been confirmed Goodwood will be the place it is revealed in the flesh to the UK public.

As one of the most anticipated cars of the year, we can expect this to be a popular car with the crowd. The 5 Series and electric i5 variation will also take to the hill climb, giving us a good idea of how this new model performs.

Mini Aceman

The Mini Aceman concept was revealed last year. It’s a car designed to sit between the standard hatchback and larger Countryman as a compact crossover. Featuring an all-electric drivetrain, you’ll find it on show on the Electric Avenue.

However, this is still very much a concept. We’re unsure when the production car will arrive, but  might get a hint or two over the course of the weekend.

Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster

Remember the Ineos Grenadier? The rough-and-ready four-wheel drive hit the market last year, taking its inspiration from the original Land Rover Defender. Well now the company has revealed the Quartermaster – a pick-up variant of its impressive off roader.

Utilising a long-wheelbase platform, it will provide a long load bed and retain the car’s impressive off-road abilities. It’ll make its debut at the Festival of Speed, taking to the hill on 13 July.

Hyundai Ioniq 5N

We’ve known a performance variant of the Ioniq 5 has been on the way for a while, and it’s currently undergoing its final phases of testing. It’s still in camouflage guise in the photos we’ve seen, but it should be revealed in full at the Festival of Speed.

Featuring a potent electric drivetrain, it’ll also get sportier bodywork than the standard car. We can’t wait to see it.

MG Cyberster

The Cyberster is a hotly anticipated electric sports car from MG, and will be the first such car to don the brand’s badge since the 1990s. Purportedly available with an all-wheel drive platform and producing over 500hp, this is another one we can’t wait to see.

A more affordable rear-wheel drive variant will also be offered. Alongside the MG4 hatchback, it demonstrates how far the Chinese-owned company has come in recent years. Would you have one of these over a Porsche Cayman?

Porsche Mission X

Talking, of Porsches, it’s an important year for that company too. Celebrating its 75th birthday, its stunning Mission X concept will be on display at Goodwood.

Combining styling elements and design inspiration from cars like the Carrera GT and 918 race car, reports suggest this car might produce as much as 1,500hp. You won’t be able to drive one anytime soon, but Porsche has confirmed an updated Cayenne will also feature at the upcoming Festival of Speed.
