Fiat Grande Panda: Everything we know so far

  • 17 Jun 2024

Say hello to the Fiat Grande Panda – an all-new model that takes direct inspiration from the iconic boxy small car of the 1980s.

Set to be available with both petrol and electric powertrains, it should be revealed in full by the end of the year. Here’s everything we know so far.

Fiat Grande Panda fast facts

  • Boxy styling reminiscent of original Panda
  • 4x4 version could be offered
  • Cool LED headlight bar
  • Will share a platform with other Stellantis models
  • Due on sale towards the end of 2024

Fiat Grande Panda styling

This is certainly a distinctive looking hatchback. Aimed at taking on other retro throwback models such as the Renault 5 EV, it retains the original boxy styling of the first Panda, which was launched in the late 1970s.

Aside from its silhouette however, the new car is very much a modern affair. Up front there’s a stunning looking headlight bar that utilises pixel-style LED lights – much like the Hyundai Tucson. The rear also gets some funky LED tail lights, which again are clearly inspired by the original Panda.

Down the side, you’ll see “PANDA” has been pressed into the steel, giving the side profile a unique look and ensuring you know exactly what it is. A raft of bright colours and a chunky set of 17in alloy wheels finish off the design.

Fiat Grande Panda interior and tech

No pictures have been revealed of the inside yet, but it could retain some quirky features from the original model – a hammock-like parcel shelf for example. We do know it’ll share bits with the latest Stellantis platform, which underpins new models like the Citroen C3.

This means infotainment-wise it’s highly likely to share the look and feel of that model too. We’ll bring you pictures as soon as they’re revealed.

Fiat Grande Panda powertrains

Sitting on the same platform as the upcoming Citroen C3, the Panda will be available with both petrol and electric powertrains, most likely a 1.2-litre hybrid producing around 110hp and an all-electric version producing 160hp. But stats and details are very much to be confirmed.

It’s possible that Fiat will eventually launch a 4x4 Panda, taking the place of the recently discontinued model that’s popular with farmers in Europe. But we’ll have to wait and see.
