Cupra Formentor 2024: Everything we know so far
Cupra has taken the covers off its heavily reworked Formentor crossover, building on the already successful formula that helped the current car win our Best Lease Car Award.
Set to hit the market later this year, here’s everything we know about the new model so far.
Cupra Formentor fast facts
- All-new sportier look
- Engines get a power boost
- More range for the plug-in
- Infotainment updates
- Available to order later in 2024
Cupra Formentor styling
Rather than a mid-life facelift, the Formentor has been given a thorough update on the styling front. While its silhouette and shape is still recognisable, the new car gets a fresh front end. The bonnet edge and bumper line has grown, while the grille itself has moved down into the bumper area.
The headlights have been sharpened too, and the changes have given the front a much sportier and fresher feel. There’s a range of new alloy wheel designs down the side, but as stated the overall silhouette remains similar to the outgoing model.
Round the back, the Cupra badge is now incorporated into the rear light bar, while the shape of the tail lights themselves get a new shape and a fresh lighting signature.
Cupra Formentor interior and tech
Inside, there’s a fresh infotainment system with a 13in touchscreen. Featuring updated software, it’s quicker to respond and easier to understand than the outgoing model.
Trim pieces have also been improved, with a number of higher quality materials used higher up in the cabin. Depending on trim level, you’ll also get sporty bucket seats and contrasting copper-effect trim too.
Cupra Formentor powertrains
A host of engine options are offered, with several of them featuring a power boost compared with the current model. The entry-level offering remains the 1.5-litre petrol unit that comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The same engine can also be had with an automatic gearbox, which also adds mild-hybrid tech. Two plug-in e-Hybrid versions of the 1.5-litre engine is also on offer, which produce 200hp and 270hp respectively. Stats reveal both will be capable of around 62 miles on electric-only power.
You’ll also find a more potent 2.0-litre petrol option, which offers 204hp. This 2.0-litre can also be had in VZ2 guise, which ups power significantly to 265hp. Sitting at the top of the range you’ll find the all-wheel drive VZ3. This model produces 330hp – around 25hp more than the outgoing model.
