Citroen C4 and C4 X get a makeover
Citroen has significantly updated its C4 and C4 X models, incorporating a number of external design changes and reworking its powertrain options.
Featuring bold new styling features and updated engine options, here’s everything you need to know.

- Deliveries in the UK next year
Citroen C4 styling
Externally, the new models borrow styling cues from the Citroen Oli concept. These have already filtered down to other production models, notably the e-C3. On the C4s, this means a bold new front end with a new headlight design incorporating fresh daytime running light signatures.
Citroen’s latest logo also sits proudly upfront, with the new design taking inspiration from the original from 1919. Round the back, things are equally as fresh. The new tail light design is larger than before, and wraps around the rear wings to meet the a fresh “CITROEN” script on the tailgate.
Citroen C4 interior and tech
Updates abound inside too, with both models now getting a revised 7in digital driver display and a larger 10in infotainment touchscreen. The system uses Citroen’s latest software, and is still of course compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Citroen has always focused on comfort, and the new C4s reflect this value: the Advanced Comfort seats have been redesigned to include even more padding (+15mm). In the front they’re also slightly wider than the outgoing model’s too.
Citroen C4 powertrains
A 1.2-litre mild-hybrid engine will be available with either 100hp or 136hp. There’s no longer a manual gearbox option for the lesser powered model, with all C4s and C4 Xs featuring an automatic gearbox.
In the higher powered petrol model, an electric motor within the gearbox is responsible for producing the extra power, meaning these cars can be driven at lower speeds on electric power alone.
Electric models are available with either a 50kWh battery or 54kWh battery. They are capable of 223 and 260 miles respectively, and their 100kW charging speed will allow an 80% recharge in around half an hour.
Citroen C4 release date
UK deliveries will commence in early 2025, with prices expected to reflect those of the outgoing model. Petrol C4s will be priced from around £18,000, while electric models are likely to cost from around £34,000.
We’ll bring you further details on spec and of course the very best lease deals as soon as they’re available.
