BMW pulls covers off the new M2
Say hello to the all-new BMW M2 which once again raises the bar for driving enjoyment. With a compact two-door design, boasting a straight-six engine, an optional six-speed manual transmission, and rear-wheel drive, the M2 provides you all the fun you need on the road.
With 480hp, it’ll get to 62mph from rest in just 4.0 seconds. With customer deliveries set to start in autumn 2024, here is everything we know so far
BMW M2 Styling
The new BMW M2's performance character is emphasised by its bold surfaces, compact dimensions, wide tracks, and athletic proportions. A large, horizontal BMW kidney grille and a three-section split lower air intake enhance cooling for the powertrain components and brakes.
The model-specific LED headlights are positioned towards the outer edges of the front end. Paying homage to the iconic BMW 02 models, each headlight features a single circular unit that provides both low and high beams.
The high-performance model’s profile is defined by the sleek line’s characteristic of the brand's coupés. Combined with prominent side sill extensions and muscular wheel arches, this creates a compact two-door design with a distinctly sporty character.
BMW M2 Interior and Tech
The new BMW M2 comes equipped with two-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charging tray, and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with the BMW Maps navigation system.
Standard smartphone integration supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Additionally, the standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes the BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the control display.
Standard semi-automated driving and parking systems include front collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning, and Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors.
Optional features such as Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go and an electrically operated slide/tilt sunroof are available to further enhance the driving experience and interior comfort.
BMW M2 Drivetrains
In addition to its raw power, the distinctive power delivery of the six-cylinder in-line engine significantly enhances the performance experience of the new BMW M2. The upgraded engine offers a more robust linear power delivery, extending into higher rev ranges—a signature trait of M models. Maximum torque is available across a broad range from 2,650 to 6,130 rpm.
With the optional six-speed manual gearbox, peak torque is 550 Nm, while the standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic increases it to 600 Nm. The engine generates a maximum output of 480 hp at 6,250 rpm, with a redline at 7,200 rpm.
