Black Friday 2024: The truth, tips, tricks and a few great deals
Sale events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday might capture the public imagination, but a recent report by Which? found that not all Black Friday deals are as good as they’re cracked up to be.
The consumer rights group tracked prices of 227 products in last year’s Black Friday fortnight, and found 9 in 10 of the products were the same price or cheaper at other times of the year.
The truth about Black Friday deals
Which? also examined how accurate “was” deals were – a tactic often used to highlight how much consumers are saving.
For 6 out of 10 deals, the higher price had been in place less than half the time the product was available in the year before promotion – suggesting it was common for the product to be discounted, and not an exceptional deal that can only be had around Black Friday.
This revelation suggests that Black Friday might not be the shopping bonanza it's often hyped up to be. And Black Friday isn’t just for clothing and tech either; you’ll often find big-ticket items like cars offered at “discounted” prices too.
So, what’s the best approach?
Car finance: Beyond Black Friday
Why wait for Black Friday? While you might find special offers, you won’t find any Black Friday deals on Leasing.com. This is because we recognise that car lease deals can be enticing at any time of the year, and the best deals are often incentivised through-out the year for varying reasons.
Instead of limiting your search to events like this, consider other opportune moments too. These could be just before a new number place change in March and September. This is the time that dealers are striving to meet targets, and you’ll often find exceptionally priced deals on in-stock pre-registered vehicles.
Despite rising new and used car prices, leasing remains one of the most cost-effective ways to get behind the wheel of a new vehicle. And we give consumers market-access to the very best deals – all year round.
A year-round approach
Dream deals. All year round. That’s what we strive to offer consumers. After all, Leasing.com is the largest and most comprehensive lease deal comparison site in the UK, offering thousands of deals from leading brokers, leasing companies, dealers, and car manufacturers.
However, there are certain functions and areas of our site that you might find useful, if you’re after the best bang for your buck. We look at a few of the options below.
Search by value
Leasing.com features an advanced algorithm that gives every one of the offers on our site a score out of ten, which you can use to compare deals and rank them. Put simply, the higher the score, the better the deal.
So, if you're looking for a bargain, or want to know if you're getting value for money, just check the score.
