Audi Q4 e-tron exterior
On the outside, the Q4 e-tron models borrow styling cues from both the standard Q3 and existing Audi e-tron models.
Up front, there’s a huge faux-grille (electric cars don’t need air to cool the radiator) with a sharp set of headlights that follow the top contours of the grille.
There’ll be two distinct flavours of Q4 e-tron – the standard SUV and a Sportback model. The two look very different from the side and rear, with the Sportback getting a more coupe-like look.
Its sloping roofline may impede rear headroom slightly, but we think it’s the better looking of the two. At the rear both models feature a full-width lighting bar, while the huge wheels will be available in 19in, 20in and 21in depending on the trim in question.
Audi Q4 e-tron interior and tech
Sit in the driving seat and you’ll find an 11.6in driver display directly ahead of you. With vivid graphics and customisable screen options, it’s linked to Audi’s latest infotainment system, which in the Q4 e-tron gets a 10.6in touchscreen unit as standard.
What’s more augmented reality satnav is available too, which projects 3D images via the heads up display to alert you of upcoming instructions.
The screen is poised slightly towards the driver, you’ll find controls for the climate control beneath it, while to the right the passenger is treated to a full-width air vent that runs the length of the dashboard.
Elsewhere it’s business as usual – Audi’s usual level of refinement and quality feel is on offer, with the company keen to point out many of the interior trim pieces are made from eco-friendly recycled materials.
The SUV version gets 525 litres of boot space, while this is cut down to 520 litres in the Sportback. Rear headroom is impeded slightly in the latter too, with the SUV being the more practical of the two models.
Audi Q4 e-tron drivetrains
From launch, the Q4 e-tron range will be available with one of two batteries – a 52kWh pack or a 77kWh pack. Both can be charged via a 125kW fast charger, which enables you to add 80 miles of range in less than 10 minutes.
The entry-level model will be known as the Q4 35 and will be capable of up to 217 miles between charges. It’ll get from 0 to 62mph in around 9 seconds and feature a front-wheel drive electric motor platform.
The more potent 77kWh pack will be known as the Q4 40. It produces around 30hp more than the 35 and ups range to an impressive 323 miles. It shaves around half a second of the 0-62mph time too.
A range-topping 50 will be available too, which gets all-wheel drive courtesy of an extra motor. With a combined output of around 300hp, it’ll get from rest to 62mph in around 6 seconds and can travel up to 303 miles between charges.
