Audi A6 e-tron styling

The new A6 e-tron Sportback and Avant are completely new cars, despite the name. Rather than the saloon shape the A6 currently offers, the e-tron Sportback variation takes the lead of the latest A5 range and swaps out the saloon proportions for a sleek sportback look.

This has primarily been done to make the car as aerodynamic, and therefore efficient, as passible. Up front, the main headlights are set into the bumper, with daytime running lights further up towards the bonnet line. It follows the design cues of the larger Q6 e-tron.

Whether you go for the Sportback or the Avant, both models feature a hatchback-style boot, improving practicality on the Sportback compared with the old saloon. A host of large alloy wheels will be offered, with even entry-level models getting 19in units.

Other heat features include flush door handles and an illluminating Audi badge on the rear which makes up part of the third brake light. The S6 gets some styling tweaks, including 21in alloys, a wider body kit and satin-effect trim pieces.

Audi A6 e-tron interior and tech

Like the exterior styling, the interior takes inspiration from the Q6, with the stunning dual-screen infotainment system standard on all models. It mates a 12in digital driver display to a 14.5in touchscreen. The passenger can also have a 10.9in screen as an optional extra.

Other notable additions include new fabric trim that runs the length of the dashboard and moulds neatly into the doors. Practicality is impressive on both models, with a long wheelbase ensuring plenty of passenger room in the rear.

Audi A6 e-tron powertrains

Four versions will be offered from launch. The A6 e-tron produces 285hp and utilises a single rear-mounted motor, offering a 0-62mph time of six seconds. Its 83kWh battery can manage 379 miles of range.

Plumping for the A6 e-tron Performance will introduce a 100kW battery and a power bump to 366hp. This version will offer up to 466 miles of range in the Sportback, and 447 miles of range in the larger Avant.

An A6 e-tron Quattro will also be offered, with this all-wheel drive variant using two motors and producing 426hp. It’ll get from rest to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and be capable of up to 435 miles.

At the top of the range is the S6. Offering 500hp, it offers a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds, but range drops to 416 miles. All models are capable of ultra-fast charging of up to 270kW, ensuring recharging via a rapid charger will see an 80% charge gained in around 20 minutes.
